The 2. Summer School of the French-German Doctoral School of the French German Institute for Industry of the Future the cooperation between KIT and Arts et Métiers took place on October 8-10, 2020 in Karlsruhe and has been organized by the Institute of Production Science (wbk) at KIT. It has been funded by the Université franco-allemande/Deutsch-Französische Hochschule UFA/DFH.
An essential part of the Summer School was the learning factory, where the participants were able to use a production line for electric motors to put the methods for increasing efficiency learned in theory into practice during several rounds and to evaluate the measures taken.
A highlight of the summer school was the intercultural training of Dr. Herlan (Erlanco GmbH, Karlsruhe). Mr Herlan reported on his experiences in the German and French working environment. In addition, the doctoral candidates had the opportunity to present their research topics. The joint evening events also contributed to learn to know each other.
